Indie Game The Movie screening, March 27

Posted: March 27th, 2013 | Author: | Filed under: Uncategorized | No Comments »

Hello there!

It’s been a busy term, so let’s relax and watch a screening of the awesome 2012 documentary Indie Game: The movie. Entrance is free, we’ll have some soda (or pop, depending on how you roll), and we’ll even have a few copies of the movie to hand out to some lucky peeps in attendance.

If you’re not familiar with the documentary, it features some very well known independent game developers going through the process of immersing themselves in the development process. It’s an amazing documentary, and it’s nothing if not inspiring. Come check it out!

In addition to that, there’s a show coming up called Creative Computing, and we’d like to have a showing from the QGDC. If you’d like to get together for a little jam to put a project or two together before the show, come out to the meeting tonight, and we’ll talk about how to get things organized.

Come on out to Goodwin Hall, room 254, at 8:00pm on Wednesday, March 27th, and watch movies and drink soda (or pop) with us! And what the heck, I’ll bring the old Nintendo Entertainment System again so we can stick around afterwards and play some retro games. Have you every used an old NES system? Want to receive the sword from the old man in Zelda? Or want to whoop Wood Man and the other bad robots in Mega Man 2? Cause we did that last time, and it was pretty sweet.

See you there!

Games night, tonight! GOO254, 8:00pm

Posted: February 6th, 2013 | Author: | Filed under: Uncategorized | No Comments »

It’s been a while, games clubbers, but why not come out tonight to Goodwin 254 (note the room change) and play some games with us! If you’ve got games, please feel free to bring them. Maybe we’ll have a SNES or something too. What, you don’t think so? Bring it on. (Actually I hope it will work on the projector – guess we’ll find out tonight!)

And you’re the sort of person who ingests nutrition? Hey, me too! How’s about some pizza then? Bring $3 tonight (bills only, please), and we’ll swing out to get some pizza to go with the games.

8:00pm in Goodwin 254. Be there, or be a non-game-playing-person. That is, unless you’re busy tonight playing games with someone else.

Games, games, games!

Bye,
QGDC

p.s., if you actually bring $3 in bills, we will be tremendously impressed. realistically, please just bring loonies and toonies.

Howdy, friends! And happy new year! Good holidays, and all that jazz.

GAMES!

The Queen’s Game Developers Club is getting geared up to resume this term. Hopefully you took advantage of the season to stay up late writing code on your computer. What? You didn’t? Well, the holiday game development challenge is still active, and you’ve got a bit more time. Write a game, quick quick!

We’ll be meeting NEXT Wednesday, January 18th, in Goodwin Hall 248. That’s .. three, four.. nine days as the crow flies. If you haven’t had time to start writing a game, or just forgot about it, you can still make it! There’s even going to be some prizes.

There will also be some other fun discussion, and planning for what the rest of the term will hold.

We’ll send a reminder email later, but book the date now! Games club.

Yeesh, anyone excited for CISC-226, by the way? Pretty sure that it’s going to be awesome.

Thanks,
Scott, Tad, and Carey
